These Korean marinated eggs are a delicious blend of soy sauce, garlic, chili, and a hint of sweetness, perfect for topping rice bowls, noodles, or enjoying as a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • ¼ onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ½ chilli
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

Step 1

Thinly slice the onion, garlic, and chili.

Step 2

Whisk together the vinegar, soy sauce, water, and honey until well combined.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a small frying pan and sauté the onion, garlic, and chili. Crack in the egg, then place any extra aromatics on top of the egg whites to prevent them from burning.

Step 4

Cook the egg on high heat for 1 minute, until the edges become crispy.

Step 5

Pour the soy marinade over the egg and cook for 1 minute, until the whites are set but the yolk remains gooey. Spoon the extra sauce and oil over the whites to help them cook evenly.

Step 6

Serve the egg over warm rice, then garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.
