Emergency Dumpling Soup is a comforting and satisfying dish that’s perfect for those moments when you need a quick and easy meal solution. Whether you’re feeling under the weather, in need of a warm hug in a bowl, or simply craving something hearty, this soup delivers on flavour and simplicity. Just grab a big bag of dumplings from an Asian supermarket — they’re usually around £5 and honestly, a lifesaver. While this isn’t exactly authentic, it’s quick, easy, and hits the spot.

Pro tip: using shrimp chili oil here is a game-changer. It packs in so much flavour with minimal effort. I’m obsessed with the one from rice_over_everything

Ingredients

  • 1 stock cube
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp shrimp crispy chilli oil
  • 1 egg scrambled
  • 7 - 10 dumplings
  • spring onions
  • sesame seeds
  • Some leafy greens like spinach would be nice too

Step 1

Dissolve the stock cube in a pot of boiling water. Add the soy sauce and balsamic vinegar, stirring to combine. Stir in the scrambled egg.

Step 2

Boil the frozen dumplings until cooked, then add them to the soup. Garnish with chopped spring onions and sesame seeds.
