I absolutely LOVE dumplings, but they can be tough to find unless you head to an Asian supermarket. This hack is perfect for getting that dumpling fix without spending too much time or money. This dish features delicate, pillowy pasta pockets filled with a delightful blend of savoury ingredients, offering a unique take that is both satisfying and fun.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 package tortellini (the cheese flavours work great!)
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 spring onion
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black vinegar (sub balsamic vinegar)
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • You can also use store-bought chili oil and simply add soy sauce and vinegar to whip this up in just about 4 minutes!

Step 1

Boil the tortellini with 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda according to the package instructions; for mine, it took about 3 minutes.

Step 2

In the meantime, grate the garlic, chop the spring onion, and heat the oil.

Step 3

Drain and rinse the tortellini. Top with chili powder, garlic, and spring onions, then pour the hot oil over everything. Add the soy sauce, sugar, and black vinegar, and enjoy!
