I could eat dumplings every night, and these are truly something special! Japanese Curried Dumplings are a delightful fusion of flavours, combining the comforting essence of traditional Japanese curry with the satisfying bite of dumplings.
You can find the Japanese curry blocks at most major supermarkets or any Asian grocery store.

Ingredients

  • 16 frozen dumplings
  • 2 onions
  • 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 2 Japanese curry blocks
  • 400ml dashi (or veg stock)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

To Serve

  • 1 tbsp chilli oil
  • 2 spring onions, finely sliced

Step 1

Thinly slice the onions and add them to a pan with a generous amount of oil. Stir in the chili flakes and a good pinch of salt, then cook until the onions become translucent.

Step 2

Add the mirin and dashi, then bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 3

Crumble the curry blocks into the mixture (I used a tea strainer to prevent clumps from forming!) and stir thoroughly.

Step 4

Add the frozen dumplings and cover with a lid. Let them cook for 5 minutes, then drizzle with chili oil and sprinkle with spring onions.
