Say goodbye to boring breakfasts and hello to a bold, flavourful twist on a classic! Masala Beans on Toast takes your favorite comfort food and gives it a spicy, Indian-inspired makeover. Think creamy, spiced beans cooked with fragrant onions, tomatoes, and warming spices, all piled high on crispy, buttery toast.

Ingredients

  • 1-piece thick bread
  • 2 sausages (use veggie if u like!)
  • 1 tin beans
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Cheddar cheese to top

Step 1

Remove the sausage from its casing and spread it evenly onto the bread.

Step 2

Heat a frying pan and add a drizzle of oil. Place the sausage-topped bread, meat side down, and fry on high for 3 minutes until golden and cooked through. Flip the bread and cook for an additional 2 minutes until the bread is crispy.

Step 3

In the meantime, finely chop your onion.

Step 4

Add a bit more oil to the pan along with the cumin seeds. Once they begin to sizzle, toss in the onion and cook for 3 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in the garlic and spices, cooking for 30 seconds, then add the beans to the pan.

Step 6

Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, then season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Step 7

Spoon the spicy masala beans over the sausage bread, then top with butter and cheese.
