This is also known as SUN TEA, which I think is such a charming name. It is a beloved Southern tradition that captures the essence of slow, warm afternoons. This refreshing beverage is brewed by harnessing the power of the sun, allowing tea bags to steep gently in water over several hours. You can also brew the tea traditionally and then add ice, or use cold water and tea, letting it steep in the fridge for a few hours.

Ingredients

  • Large handful of ice
  • 3 tbsp tea leaves
  • Simple syrup to taste (50:50 sugar to water)

Step 1

Place a large handful of ice into a bowl.

Step 2

Pour loose tea over the ice. As the ice melts, it will brew the tea.

Step 3

Put the bowl out in the sun and let it sit until the ice has completely melted and the tea has brewed.

Step 4

Add your sugar syrup to taste, stir well, and enjoy your refreshing sun tea!
